Tomar – The city of the Templars
We begin the day in Tomar, a charming city steeped in symbolism. It was here that the powerful Knights Templar settled in Portugal, leaving a legacy that spans centuries. We visit the imposing Convent of Christ, a masterpiece of Manueline and Renaissance architecture, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its famous Templar Charola, the Main Cloister, and the Chapter Window are just some of the treasures you'll discover with our expert guide.
Tomar Synagogue
Through the historic center, we walked through narrow streets with medieval layouts, passed the Tomar Synagogue, one of the oldest and best-preserved in the country, and felt the unique atmosphere of this city where every corner holds a legend.
Almourol Castle – a castle on an island
In the afternoon, we head to the stunning Almourol Castle, located on a small island in the middle of the Tagus River. We cross by boat to the fortress, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes. This jewel of medieval military architecture is one of Portugal's most cinematic castles and a symbol of the Templar presence in the region.
Inside, it's impossible not to be captivated by the magical atmosphere, the silence of the walls and the panoramic view that transports us to another era.
